FAQs
-
What is the primary purpose of a sprinkler soft drain?
To prevent freeze damage by draining residual water from exposed sprinkler lines.
-
How do soft drains protect my sprinkler system from damage?
By releasing water in exposed sprinkler components, preventing freezing and pipe bursts
-
Do I need a compressor? Is this the same as a blowout?
No equipment needed for a soft drain. A blowout requires an air compressor to force air through all the lines on the sprinkler system to evacuate all water. Blowouts are not necessarily until the ground is at risk of freezing, soft drains focus on protecting the lines above ground that are susceptible to freezing temperatures.

What time of the year is the ground frozen?
Typically, the ground freezes in Colorado Springs region between late November to early March. Though this can vary widely depend on the weather, normally after March weather is consistently warmer that the ground will thaw. Overnight freezes or occasional cold fronts won't reverse these conditions. It takes consistent freezing temps' day and night to start to freeze the ground.
